KIMBERLY B.-PLATINUM FUNK

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT by ALISSA SMITH

Kimberly is no stranger to the blog- she’s made several appearances ranging from her long-haired-bohemian days to her transitioning to various stages of a more cropped do with progressions of brighter baby blonde.  Now that she’s rockin’ a style with a bit if funk, thanks to Alissa’s continued magical shear work creating a choppy asymmetrical undercut bob, we thought it’d be even more fun to platinum her up, leaving her natural root to accentuate the shapes of the haircut.

Love this girl and the fact that she is not afraid of a change!

REINA B-FROM DIP DYED TO SOMBRE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT/STYLE by ADRIAN CASTILLO

Reina came into Meche seeking a softer more natural looking ombre, a sombre if you will.  To transform her from looking dip dyed to looking sunkissed, I did a heavy round of lowlights to add dimension and also an all over gloss to tone everything down.  Adrian shortened her length by a few inches and added layers throughout to give her thick hair more movement.

FALL & SWEATERS & BLONDE

I’m beginning to feel like I’ll need to move out of state to ever experience the bliss of being a blonde in a bulky sweater in fall weather again… this 90 degrees and up in LA in October isn’t even for the birds anymore as I’m pretty sure I just saw a flock heading towards Chicago in search if crisp air and falling colored leaves.

KATIA N.-HONEY WHEAT SUNKISSES

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

I did a full head of balayaged highlights to sunkiss  Katia’s hair color up with tones of caramel. honey wheat, and beige blonde.  When balayaging it’s important to have your brush stroke start thin and then gradually get wider as you paint down through the mids and ends of your client’s hair. Keep your brush stokes consistent and make sure the hair is evenly coated with the bleach of your choice (I use Solaris) throughout each painted ribbon.  Think of the balayage technique as controlled randomness…though you’re looking for consistency, each ribbon does not need to be identical.  That’s what keeps it looking natural vs. stripy.  To ensure each ribbon looks as if it was naturally sunkissed-tone down the root (the start of the highlight) for just a few minutes as I almost always do when I do traditional foil highlights too.  Your end result will look as if her hair color simply grew out of her head that way.

BRUNETTE + RED =HOT

I’m so loving a rich deep dark brunette haircolor with red accents for the upcoming seasons, particularly the red pertaining to a lip color.  It so emulates the feeling of a chilly night by the fire with a bulky cream colored warm sweater on and a cup of hot ‘something’ in hand or that of a glamourous holiday party, glass of champagne, and a black velvet-y cocktail dress or maybe even emerald green, you know that Christmas party dress green I’m talking about.

If only I could pull off being a brunette… serious brunette envy in hand now.  Instead, I’ll happily make all of your brunette seasonal dreams come true.

NICOLE B.- FROM BRASS TO KIM K. BLONDE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Inspired by Kim Kardashian’s previously blonde hair, Nicole requested me to transform her brassy blonde into the very coveted much lighter and brighter tone.  Both traditional highlights and balalyged mids and ends were used to beige out the brass followed by a heavily toned down root area, remembering to let the hairline be a bit brighter.

Now this is a transformation that totally suits Nicole!

UNDONE BLONDE

Perfect for fall.  Rooty undone blonde, non part specific, and easily concealed with a hat if need be.

SASSY SEXY AND SHORT

Alas these photos are inspiring me to make a change….. and why not, when clearly shorter is sexier!

ELISHA L.- A WHOLE NEW DO THAT WAS MEANT TO BE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIR CUT/STYLE by ALISSA SMITH

Elisha was ready for a change!  Alissa cropped off inches to create a  texturized tousled bob and I did a combination of balayage and traditional highlights to accentuate all the movement created by her haircut.  A major change that fits Elisha perfectly…it’s as if this was always meant to be her true look.  So pretty on her!

ANNA GUNN- JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Anna Gunn looked gorgeous as ever on Jimmy Kimmel last night, promoting her new show, Gracepoint, which premieres tonight on Fox.  I’ve got my Tivo set, do you?

SHEREE LOU M.-THE LONGEST OMBRE EVER

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

How cute is Sheree Lou and how long is her hair?  Rhetorical questions I know, but seriously … this is a girl that knows what she wants-ombre and no length off and so the highlighting began to create the world’s longest ombre.  I don’t know if Guinness agrees, but I personally do declare.
