CHERYL A. -CHAMELEON OF COLORS

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Cheryl has been a long time client who is definitely not afraid of change.  Such an admirable quality, might I add.  Above is a collection of tones we’ve played around with over the past few years along with her latest look of being a rich brunette.  Cheryl is quite the hair color chameleon and can truly pull off any color, but I must say I’m really feeling this all over dark on her with the bright lip.  Pretty pretty!

MADDELINE H.-50 SHADES OF MADDELINE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

What’s fun about blogging clients’ color is that you have archives of their ever changing looks.  This is Maddeline’s third blog debut as she’s always down to switch up her shades.  Together, we’ve gone from strawberry blonde to beachy blonde, and now her latest request, chocolate brunette.  The girl is not shy to give new things a try and she’s so darn cute that she can pull off any tone!  Thank you, Maddeline for being you!

KATHERINE H.-SUNTEA TO CAYENNE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

What I love about my client, Katherine, is that she loves to switch it up.  I’d say about every other visit we play with her color and alter it in some form whether it be slight or major, so she’s no stranger to making an appearance on ON COLOUR GROUND.

Katherine has always toyed with the idea of going red and so on this past visit we decided to go for it, knowing that if we were going for it, we were really going to make the red vibrant.  I transformed her hues of suntea locks into a coppery tone of cayenne pepper red.  Now that Katherine’s a vibrant redhead, she can rock this for a bit and then we can play some more by simply changing the tones of the red.  Perhaps we will go more ruby red, or more cool toned, or more auburn… sky is the limit here.  We all shall see…..

SPRING BARDOT BLONDE

Spring is rapidly approaching us, faster than I might be prepared, quite frankly.  How are you faring?  Will your locks be ready to take on brighter blonde?  If you’re one who goes back and forth between dark and light for the seasons, or has been exposed to the harsh dry elements of a true winter, prepare your locks to be brighter again.  Be sure you’re using intense hydrating products… shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, treatment oils, etc. are your new best friend to get your locks in shape again for the upcoming desires of being a brighter blonde for spring and summer.

MARY M.-BRUNETTE LOVE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

CUT/STYLE by ALESSANDRA SAMAN

Mary was ready for a bit of a makeover with fresh hair color and a fresh cut.  A change towards being closer to her natural was the best route to go as far as keeping up the maintenance and flattering her skin tone.  Allie gave her a beautiful cut, giving her fullness, body, and some bold fringe.  I’m loving Mary’s new look.  What do you think?

KATY K.-TAKE ME DARKER

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

CUT/STYLE by ALLIE PARONELLI

Katy was bored with her sandy blonde and was ready for a big change towards a darker path.  Tis the season…I’ve been getting a lot of requests for going darker these days.  Allie then finished up her new look with a trim and some textured waves.

MAGGIE C.-STRAWBERRY COPPER

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Over being a traditional blonde, Maggie was ready to venture into more strawberry tones of blonde with a hint of copper, which I must say, I’m absolutely loving on her.  The new color gives her hair a vibrant shine that glistens in the sun.  What a gorgeous head of hair!  jealous.

ALEXANDRA H.-A BIG CHANGE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Alex is a girl that knows what she wants…and it’s never anything “too natural or too soft and pretty.”  She likes her blonde, in her words, “trashy” and her dark solid.  It’s refreshing to color outside of the norm at times and go for a more unnatural effect, especially when the majority of my days in the salon are doing quite the opposite.

When going for such a big change of blonde to dark, it’s best to have a professional perform the task!  It’s not quite as simple as throwing dark color from a box on unless you really want to go for unnatural and end up with green inky hair.

GALASSIA G.- BLONDER, BLONDER, BLONDER

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT/STYLE by ALISSA TIETGEN-SMITH

Galassia was spending her summer in LA and caught the “make me blonder, blonder, blonder California bug!”  So that I did- with a heavy handed round of traditional highlights, a whole lot of tips and a bump of her base, followed by a root gloss to keep her color looking natural.  Alissa completed her look with a trim and kept her look sleek and straight.

ILEINA A.- DEEPER IS BETTER

HAIR COLOR/STYLE by SARAH CONNER

Ilenia, the Russian beauty that she is, came to me with hair color inspiration in mind… she wanted to be deeper and darker ala JLo brown.  I took her inspiration and went with it, giving her the best version of JLo suited for her.  What a gorgeous girl with a gorgeous head of hair… I’m loving her color being deeper!

AMY G.-A WEE BIT DARKER

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIR CUT/STYLE by ALESSANDRA SAMAN

Amy had pretty hair color to begin with, but wanted a wee bit of a change on the darker side.  I deepened her base and hand painted ribbon-y highlights a.k.a. balayage throughout her mids and ends for hints of brightness.  The deeper look makes her eye color standout more while the highlights still give her that bit of softness that’s flattering to her skin tone.

JENNIFER FREEMAN- SOFTER BRUNETTE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIR CUT/STYLE by ALESSANDRA SAMAN

Jennifer came in as an au natural darkest brunette and left as an enhanced softer brunette.  GORGEOUS!   It’s one of my favorite looks on someone who is naturally super dark- it’s important to keep them still reading as a brunette as opposed to looking like a brunette trying to be blonde.  Bonus, it’s generally more flattering to the skin tone too.

LEANNA B-OVER IT

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIR CUT/STYLE by ALISSA TIETGEN-SMITH

A few months back Leanna came to see me to fix a semi-botched ombre job she had received elsewhere.   It was the perfect low maintenance look for her semester abroad, but now she’s back and she’s O V E R her ombre.  I’ve been feeling the same way towards the trend, so I was happy to oblige and get rid of it.  I softened her overall look by highlighting and toning meanwhile recognizing the importance of keeping Leanna looking like a brunette as opposed to a blonde.  Alissa completed Leanna’s look by shortening her due a bit to the ever so sexy collar bone length.  Love it!

NICOLE MIKKELSON-BRING IT

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT by NEIL WEISBERG

Nicole was ready to bring on a change!  Showing no fear, she had Neil lop off the inches and asked me to bring her to a medium brunette.  I kept Nicole’s color rich at the roots and softer towards her face with hints of highlights around the perimeter of her cut.  The new do’ gives her a modernized fresh flirty look that will be a piece of cake for her to maintain.  Way to go Nicole, you can’t be afraid of change!

NATALIE BOREJKO-CHOCOLATE WISHES

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

My girl Nat and I have been friends forever it seems.  In fact when I was fresh in and out of beauty school she was often my hair color guinea pig giving things a whirl in the kitchen of my apartment.  Ahh, such a brave little client she was!

Natalie’s got one heck of a mane on her which we’d been keeping on the ombre side for quite sometime now.  However at this point she was just plain ol’ sick of looking “two-toned” and wanted to have a darker more cohesive color while still keeping the ends on the slightly lighter side.

For Nat’s change, I deepened her base to a true chocolate brown, as well as bringing it through her mids, followed by an all over gloss that would tone down her blonde ends.  It’s a simple change that can make a big difference!
