FALL TRENDS CONTINUE

I said it last year about this time and I’ll say it again… the look of overly dimensional, overly beachy, and overly ombre’d are looks of days of yore’!  Embrace the continued fall trends this season and on into winter with rich gorgeous blended, solid, hair color.

MARI T.-ONCE YOU GET A LITTLE TASTE

HAIR COLRO by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT/STYLE by ALESSANDRA SAMAN

Once you get a little taste of blonder and shorter you just want more!  So scroll away to see all of Mari’s stops on the blonde ambition tour of her life.  You’ll gradually see her getting braver and bolder has her locks keep creeping up and craving the brightness.  Thanks to OLAPLEX I was able to push Mari’s naturally black hair to the palest depths.

Such a cutie, this one!

TRANSITIONAL BRUNETTE

Not ready to fully embrace fall yet?  Keep your brunette a little sunkissed as you transition into the colder seasons.

HILI A.-FROM BRASSY TO GORGEOUS

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Visiting from the MIddle East, Hili was in search of a brighter blonde with a more neutral base as nobody wants brassy (orangey) tones.  This is a common request from clients trying to go from really dark hair to light.  The trick is allowing the lightness to come from the highlights vs. the base.  Lifting a base too far when it’s that dark brings about the unwanted brassy tones.  After one visit, Hilis is well on her way to returning home with one insane head if hair-so gorgeous!

SPORTY BLONDE

Good thing sporty and wild blonde hair are in because it’s been my uniform these days.

KATE M.-WEDDING COLOR READY

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Wanting her hair color to be timeless and classic in her wedding photos as opposed to capturing a trend of the 10’s, Kate came in seeking to erase her ombre and become a more natural looking- barely sunkissed brunette.  To do so I drug out her base color, choosing a tone much closer to her natural hair color, did a heavy round of lowlights, and sealed it all together with a gloss.

Remember when doing lowlights to either leave out the ends until the last five-ten minutes or use multiple formulas, for the root, mids, and ends descending from the darkest to lightest tones.

BABE-Y PINK BLONDE

At first glance all you see is a babe of sexy 70’s esque’ blonde but take a closer look and you’ll really see the dusted ombre of baby pink, proving that funky can also be hot!

MARISA B.-LONG TALL STRAWBERRY

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT by ADRIAN CASTILLO

Wow, Marisa has some loooong hair…au natural at that-rare to come by.  So what a treat it was for me to get to be the one to color her to a subtly sunkissed strawberry blonde brought to you by a round of balayaged highlights, a slight bump of her base, and an all over gloss.  Adrian polished her rapunzel like locks by cleaning up her ends and adding long face-framing layers.  A nice beginning step towards changing your look for the first time!

BRUNETTE-A-COMIN’

I’m starting to get requests for darker tones… that means it’s about to be a brunette fall world again.

Can’t wait.

MADDELINE H.-EVER EVOLVING

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT/STYLE by ALISSA SMITH

You’ll find Maddie on the blog several times ever evolving and switching up her hair color.  Here she is amidst her latest transition from being a rich chocolatey brunette back into the realm of blonde, a realm we have even once visited before.  No matter what color she remains the cutest of cutes.

ALLYSON C.-BYE BYE YELLOW

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT/STYLE by STACEY HO

Allyson came in to see me with a few months worth of roots and a request to diffuse the yellowy blonde tones she’d been battling in her highlights.  (Yellow tends to come into play on blondes when they’re just not quite lifted far enough in the bleaching process.) To complete Allyson’s request, I too did a round of highlights, but lifted them to more of a pale yellow tone before removing the foils- think the color of the inside of a banana peel.  I then gave her a root gloss to tone down the start of her highlights, which helps them to avoid looking stripy amidst all her root regrowth.  The end result, a a brighter baby blonde plus a healthy trim by Stacey, and there you have a subtle new do for Allyson.

CREATIVE COLOR FOR THE DAY

Alright kids, it’s time to get creative, be free, be weird.  There is so much temporarily “fun” hair paraphernalia available in the world these days that being creatively “different” with your hair does not have to be left to the goth child, the rebellious punk, or the weirdo in the back corner-all who are generally not afraid of being permanently “different.”   So get out there and play with some temporary colors that will wash out in just a few shampoos.

Some of my favorite’s worth a try:

ALEXA R.-ADDED INTEREST

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Alexa was ready for a little interest to be brought to her hair after being monochromatic for years.  I highlighted her and tipped her out to add dimensional gradation to her color and in doing so completely changed her vibe.  Right before our eyes, Alexa transformed from a cutie patootie girl, to a babe-aliscious young woman.

LAST WEEKS OF SUMMER

Let’s face it, summer is heading out of style…unfortunately.  So if you didn’t get your summer blonde on yet, you better get to it!

note:  If you’re one who likes to go back and forth between blonde and brunette for the summer and winter seasons I’d skip the bleach and tone and opt for something more natural, that can take on the transition into dark better.

KYLE M.-CHANGE ME UP

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT/STYLE by STACEY HO

Kyle came to see me and Stacey at Meche Salon as a new client ready for a change.  Inches off and a strong fringe made the biggest difference, thanks to Stacey-paired with a round of highlights for a brighter, lighter, softer blonde by me, to complete Kyle’s makeover.

Great to meet you Kyle and way to embrace a change!
