EMILY S.-THE FULL SCATTERED TIP OUT

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIR CUT/STYLE by ALESSANDRA SAMAN

Emily was basically a virgin head upon sitting in my chair looking for some sunkisses to liven up her locks.  I did what I call a full scattered tip out all around her head- take a small section, back comb it, only bleach the ends that are left out of the back comb, and continue on in random sections so that the placement is scattered and not a solid ombre. Using bleach, 7th stage, and 20 volume, I was able to lift her mids and ends to the exact tone I wanted so there was no need to do an actual toner or color gloss to enhance her look, just a Redken Shades EQ clear gloss for extra shine.

Alessandra trimmed up Emily’s ends and gave her slightly textured layers to shape her cut and give her the perfectly imperfect beach wave curl that really shows off her hair color.

Love this new look on Emily!

GOLDEN BOB

How stinkin’ cute is the golden blonde blunt bob?  It’s the perfect just past the chin length and if you have a natural wave and effortless body to your hair, well then bonus-Welcome to a no fuss style!

CASEY M.-STONE RED

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Casey came to see me at Meche Salon armed with photos of hair color inspiration, well more specifically, armed with Emma Stone in her dark auburn red phase, photos of inspiration.  An array of photos is almost a must when consulting with your colorist in regards to an exact shade of red you’re hoping for.  Reds can be tricky, they are very subjective-they pick up different tones in different lighting, what is copper to one may be auburn to another, you may be describing something bright and fire-y and regret you did when you walk out looking like a punk rock princess.  Pictures, pictures, and more pictures can be your best guide to you and your colorist having a clear redheaded vision for your hair

KIMBERLY A.-BLEND AND SOFTEN

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Kimberly’s long locks were calling for some blending of old bands of color to make her hair look soft and cohesive as opposed to a an open book of her hair color history.  To correct this I did a round of fine highlights and a significant amount of tipping out.  I then bumped her base color a shade and toned down the root of her highlights to “erase” the start of them, followed by an all over gloss to seal it all together.

Kim’s hair is now calling for a hair whip and a head turn!

DARK FOR SUMMER

Proof it’s a myth you should always go lighter for summer when dark is equally as fun and sexy.

When your rich and shiny brunette tone begins to dull from too much fun in the sun and surf, refresh with a color gloss.  I always use Redken Shades Eq and for the above I’d regloss with 1oz 1/2 of 6nb and a 1/2 oz of 6n under heat for 10 minutes, cool for 5.  If it’s just the shine you’re missing and not the tone, do a Shades EQclear gloss under heat for 20 minutes.

SEAN S.-GLOWING BRUNETTE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT & STYLE by ALISSA SMITH

Hot damn, Sean is having a good hair day after her day with Alissa and myself at Meche salaon!  Her new do is absolutely glowing thanks to Alissa lopping off inches making her cut much more solid, full, and flowing with beachy flat iron waves and I transformed her old ombre into a true sunkissed brunette by “erasing” most of her highlights with lowlights.  So pretty, healthy, and shiny now- loves it!

CASE IN POINT

See- her cut would take on a totally different vibe if her hair color was more dimensional, highlighted, and beachy looking.  See post 2 days ago to get what I’m laying down.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Wishing you all a happy and safe 4th of July from Puerto Vallarta because nothing says God Bless America like a trip to Mexico.

BOB AND BLENDED BLONDE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Here’s a case where better blended highlights makes for obviously better blended hair color, which in turn makes for a better stronger haircut.  When a cut is strong and bold, such as a bob generally is, in my opinion, it calls for more solid hair color.  A heavier round of highlights  and a bump up of her base brings her look together in a more cohesive manner, while canceling out unwanted yellowy undertones.  The shorter the do, the more you want the color and cut to work together!

EARTHY BLONDE

I’m obsessed, in love, and intrigued by these images.  Absolutely gorgeous.  Nothing is trying too hard including her hair color and yet the understated beauty of it all makes the biggest statement.

KRISTIN C.-FRESH AND REFRESHED

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIRCUT by MICHAEL SPARKS

It’d been quite sometime since I’d see Kristin in my chair for color so when she cam back in months upon months later she was ready for a brighter refresh.  I did a round of highlights using both high-lift color and bleach, balayaged ribbons throughout her mids and ends, and also bumped her base up a shade or so to take off the edge and add some translucency to her natural color.  With her new color, Kristin looks fresh and refreshed and ready for summer.  So pretty!
