LAUREN G.-BLEND AND TONE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Lauren was referred to me by a friend of hers who had started seeing me about six months ago.  (Best way to find a colorist— let your friend test it out first.  If your friend gets great results consistently, chances you will too!)  Her request, to tone down the red hues she felt her highlights were casting and add more highlights to bring out more of a connection to her lighter ends.  …and so that I did.

Beautiful head of hair!

JILL H.-HOLY HAIR

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Holy moly, Jill pretty much has the best head of hair on the planet!  And now that that’s out of the way, can we just take a moment to… ok, look at it one more time.  Yes, the best head of hair on the planet!

…And to top that off, I’m so happy she discovered me from the blog and even more grateful that she chose me to be the one to get to highlight it.    I first neutralized some of the redness she felt was coming through in her previous base color and then followed up with a round of highlights and scattered sun-kissed tips to keep her overall color looking natural and the dimension looking subtle.  Perfect for Jill, who’s about to be a busy new mom with little time for intense upkeep.

So nice to meet you Jill and looking forward to seeing you again as a mommy!

MARI T.-TRANSITIONAL OMBRE

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIR CUT/STYLE by ALESSANDRA ASAMAN

Q. What do you do when you’re not ready to fully give up your ombre, but you’re not ready to fully commit to traditional highlights either?

A.  Well, you do as Mari does.  Get ribbony highlights as a face frame (highlights around your front hair line) and a few scattered about throughout your crown yet away from the root.

Q. Why?

A.  It will keep you looking brighter around the face and break-up the two-toned-ness of your ombre by offering more of a connection between your dark dark long roots and your bright bright tipped out ends.

Bonus- It’s still a low maintenance color process because no highlight is coming directly from the crown root, thus you have an easy grow out.

TERRI A.-BRING IT UP

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

HAIR CUT by FRANKIE HERNANDEZ

Terri was mostly her natural color with a few inches of lightened ends when she made her way to my chair, reading pretty dark overall in her hair color.  Bringing the brightness of highlights up and throughout her locks instead, along with the shape of her cut, softened not only her over all hair color, but also her skin tone.  Terri’s new look gives her a fresh happy glow.  Love to see a smile like that!

JESSICA P.-SUBTLE ENHANCEMENT

HAIR COLOR by SARAH CONNER

Jessica simply needed a subtle enhancement to her color to cancel out the brassy-ness she was feeling and soften her natural root color.  I gave her barely there ribbony highlights and did an all over gloss to neutralize the warmth she was feeling.  Another fine example of when less is more.

BRENDA B-BRUNETTE ON BLACK

HAIR COLOR/CUT by SARAH CONNER

Brenda is an old friend of mine’s stepmom who’s got one amazing head of hair!  She had been box coloring for quite some time and had begun to feel like it was just too dark.  So I softened her look with barely there brunette highlights (her very first highlight experience by the way- so exciting) and gave her face framing layers to open her up more.

Hope you’re loving your new look, Brenda!
